About The School
Welcome!
Welcome to the Ringgold Middle School website. RMS embodies a dynamic community of learning that fosters collaboration among its members and challenges its students to explore untapped potential in their journey to adulthood. Mentored by a dedicated faculty and staff, students learn to make positive choices that will serve them well as they traverse the stormy terrain of adolescence.
Our school motto, Ad Vitam Paramus, which translates to "We are preparing for life," effectively communicates our purpose as we work with the students entrusted to us. In addition, certain core values such as honesty, integrity, and service, are expected from all who work and learn at RMS. We believe these serve as a firm foundation to success.
Our rigorous academic program is anchored in collaboration and individualism. Our faculty and staff work and plan together to ensure each student is learning to his or her potential. Opportunity abounds for students to participate in clubs, advisement, band, sports, etc. There is something for everyone at Ringgold Middle School!
On this website, you will learn much about us. However, only a visit to our campus will show you the things that truly make us a special place to learn and grow.
Purposes & Objectives
Ringgold Middle School is a student-centered school. Its mission is the education of its students. To this end, the faculty and staff seek to create a structured and supportive environment advantageous to the intellectual and physical growth as well as the social and moral development of its students.
Ringgold Middle School offers a thorough and structured program to students diverse in their academic abilities. All students are challenged yet supported by faculty members who are consistently available for individualized assistance. The ultimate objective here is to nurture self-confidence and prepare students to succeed wherever life may lead them; higher academic arenas or immediate entry into the workforce upon graduation from high school.
To complement the core curriculum, Ringgold Middle School offers a broad athletic program which emphasizes participation and intensity of play at all levels of ability, in turn, fostering self-esteem, teamwork, and school spirit. In addition, art, band and music classes are offered to support diverse interests and to encourage individual artistic expression.
Students learn best in an atmosphere that is safe, physically comfortable, and inviting. Clearly articulated and consistent guidelines for behavior reinforce, honesty, self-discipline, respect for self and others, and acceptable manners. In accordance with the school motto, Ad Vitam Paramus, Ringgold Middle School continues to envision its mission as one of challenging, supporting, and preparing its students for life.
Administration
Ringgold Middle School's administrative team is comprised of three individuals who have made education their life's work. Each one is dedicated and committed to serving its school community to ensure not only RMS is successful, but also each individual that makes up the student body. Each welcomes you to Ringgold Middle School.
Mrs. Shelley Pritchard (Principal)
Mrs. Pritchard has spent her time as an educator serving students of all ages. Her educational career started as a high school chemistry and math teacher at her high school alma mater, Central High School. During the 23 years at the school, she served as the science department chairperson, cheerleading coach, curriculum coach, and various club sponsorships. One of the unforeseen joys in coming to Ringgold Middle School and Catoosa County Public Schools is to reconnect with some of the students Mrs. Pritchard taught that have chosen to become educators.
Mrs. Pritchard also returned to her collegiate alma mater, UTC, in 2012 to become a full-time instructor in the UTeaChattanooga/STEM program in the College of Arts and Sciences. This time at UTC sparked a desire to seek an administrative position and led to spending one year at The STEM School of Chattanooga, followed by seven years as the assistant principal at Signal Mountain Middle High School.
When not at school, Mrs. Pritchard spends her time with family and friends with her five-year-old granddaughter getting the bulk of her attention.
In addition to a Bachelor of Science Degree from UTC, Mrs. Pritchard holds a Master's Degree from Cumberland University and an Educational Specialist Degree from Lincoln Memorial University.
